Sincere Advice and Warning to Parents Who Allow Their Children to Play Games on Their Phones

Wonders shall never end as a 6-year-old boy unauthorizedly ordered food for his party with his father’s credit card.

Are you a father or a mother who’s fond of allowing your children to play games on your cell phone?

If yes, I have a story that you should learn from.

Here goes my story

In his Facebook post, also reported by Yahoo Website, Keith Stonehouse told the story of how he left his phone with his son, Mason, to play a game, before bed, and lost almost $1,000.

This happened last Saturday, January 28, 2023, in the Detroit area of Michigan, United States of America.

While playing with the phone, the little boy, Mason, decided to order food via Grubhub APP to feed a party.

His father didn’t know what was happening until delivery driver after delivery driver show up at his doorstep, dropping off food.

The Michigan father says Chase (his bank) declined his son’s $500 pizza order due to suspicions of fraud, but other deliveries still arrived at their door.

According to him, his son spent nearly $1,000 on the Grubhub deliveries, that Saturday.

The orders included chicken shawarma, chili cheese fries, and nearly $500 worth of pepperoni pizza.

Since the orders couldn’t be canceled, the family shared food with neighbours and stored the leftovers.

“When I finally put two and two together that it was Mason,” complained the dumbfounded father, on his Facebook profile, “I had a little talk with him about it (by this time he was in bed listening to the doorbell ring repeatedly and me expressing my frustration from downstairs) he had the audacity to ask me if the pepperoni pizza had come yet!!!!????”

“I almost lost my mind.

“I had to walk out of the room because I wasn’t sure If I was going to punch a hole in the drywall or laugh out loud and shake my head,” lamented the angry father.

This should be a big lesson for all parents and adults who are fond of allowing their children or younger ones to play games on their cell phones.

This also reminds me of the occasion when I witnessed a mother beating her 13-month-old baby some time ago in Lagos, Nigeria.

When I asked to know why she beat the little boy, she replied: “He threw my very expensive cell phone I gave him to play into a bucket that was full of water.”

Was that a good reason for her to beat the little innocent boy? Shouldn’t she have avoided the misfortune by not giving the phone to the boy, in the first place?

Sincere Advice and Warning

It’s a bad habit for any parent or adult, for whatever reason, to allow his or her child to play with his or her phone, including using it to play games.

Your phone is not a toy that a child should use to play games.

If your child loves games, please, buy him or her dedicated games or a phone that has games in it, if you can afford one. If you cannot afford one, for now, he or she should wait until you’re able to do so.

Keith Stonehouse lost nearly $1,000 by allowing his son to play games on his phone.

Failure to heed the above advice-cum-warning may cost you more than $1,000, financially speaking or otherwise, but may God forbids you to have such an ugly experience!

A word is enough for the wise.

Those who have ears, let them hear!
