Big Brother Naija, BBNaija for short, Nigeria’smost popular reality television show, has come and gone, but the dust it raised is yet to settle.

I was not a fan of the highly watched programme.

I was just a casual viewer of the TeeVee show, yet I was still able to spot a BIG lesson, which I would like to share with you, here.

Here goes my lesson.

The reality show, like the ones before it, started on a happy note with the housemates trying to familiarize themselves with one another.

But as the show progressed, the situation in the house began to change and to go sour.

White Money | BBNaija: Whitemoney Vs. Other Housemates [The BIG Lesson For The Rest Of Us]
Hazel Oyeze Onou, a.k.a. White Money
One of the changes that I noticed, at that time, was the meaningless hatred that most of the other housemates had for the eventual winner of the show, White Money, whose real name is Hazel Oyeze Onou.

I started noticing the hatred when one of the housemates, who felt jealous and uncomfortable with White Money’s natural love for cooking suggested that other housemates should be involved in the cooking done in their kitchen.

Most of them wanted an immediate end to what they saw as White Money’s ‘cooking monopoly,’ so that every other housemate could participate in the house cooking.

Unfortunately for those jealous and uncomfortable housemates, their plan failed woefully, not because White Money bribed anyone of them to kill the plan, but because most of them were either too lazy to cook or did not know how to cook.

As the Enugu State-born reality star continued to nurture his passion for cooking, most of the other housemates moved their focus out of his love for ‘kitchen business’ to other areas of his life, with a view to finding faults in those areas, just to justify their baseless hatred for him.

One of the areas they eventually found fault in the guy was in his area of education.

Once they discovered that he had no university education, they started making fun of him in that area.

They never stopped talking about his low education whenever they gossiped against him.

The worst culprit in this regard was the Akwa-Ibom-born Angel Agnes Smith, simply known as Angel.

BBNaija's Angel Agness Smith | BBNaija: Whitemoney Vs. Other Housemates [The BIG Lesson For The Rest Of Us]The heavily tattooed and nude-loving lady, who felt she understood the English language more than any other housemate, was always fond of correcting other housemates’ bad English.

Interestingly, the BBNaija Season 6 winner, White Money, neither got annoyed nor took offence against any one of them who thought and spoke evil of him.

Instead of getting annoyed or taking an offence against anyone, the intelligent guy, who knew what he wanted, usually laughed over it, while keeping his head straight and focused, maybe believing that his destiny rested in the hands of the Almighty God.

The fair-complexioned winner never argued the fact that he did not have a university education with them, yet it was very obvious to anybody who followed him closely, the way I did, that he was intelligent, very ‘streetwise’.

This brings me to the BIG lesson I talked about at the beginning of this article, which I promised to share with you, here.

Many of us who had the opportunity of attending one higher institution or the other erroneously believe that the other people who did not have the same opportunity are doomed for life.

Wrong!

Very, very wrong!

The fact that you attended a university, whether in your country or in the best country in the world, DOES NOT, I repeat, DOES NOT make you intelligent.

If you didn’t understand my last sentence, please, read it as many times as possible until you do.

What happened between White Money and most of the other housemates of BBNaija explains why the great billionaire, Elon Musk, says: “I hate when people confuse education with intelligence. You can have a bachelor’s degree and still be an idiot.”

Elon Musk | BBNaija: Whitemoney Vs. Other Housemates [The BIG Lesson For The Rest Of Us]

What Elon Musk said years ago is still valid today.

The Cold War between White Money and some of his fellow contestants also explains why the greatest book in the world, the Holy Bible, in Ecclesiastes 9:11 says: “I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

It is possible for one to be educated, as well as intelligent, no doubt about it, but let no one think that it is impossible for an uneducated person to be intelligent on account that he or she does not have a university education.

Anybody who thinks that way is nothing but a BIG fool and may remain a fool forever unless he or she decides to have a rethink.

Fast-forward to the grand finale of Nigeria’s biggest reality show on October 3, 2021.

On that day, the majority of BBNaija housemates were very disappointed when the fair stocky dude, White Money, was declared the winner of the show.

They neither believed their eyes nor their ears.

They couldn’t understand why somebody without a university education should win such a coveted prize in a gathering of very educated people.

Unfortunately for many of those bad belle housemates, they couldn’t hide their feelings about it.

Like a wise and intelligent dude, which White Money was, he noticed that feeling of hatred and disappointment in most of his fellow contestants and reacted appropriately.

To summarize the BIG lesson of this article, BBNaija: Whitemoney Vs. Other Housemates [The BIG Lesson For The Rest Of Us], I want to remind everyone of us that education is not a direct equivalent of intelligence.

NO, it’s not!

Do you know why education does not equal intelligence?

It is because we have people who have the best of university degrees, among other qualifications, yet they are stupid idiots, while there are others who have no education but are as intelligent and wise as the biblical King Solomon.

Finally, never hate somebody.

If there’s any reason for you to hate somebody, let it be on the grounds of a justifiable reason.

If you hate somebody without a justifiable cause, our Creator who’s a just God would fight for him or her and the outcome would shock you as it did to most of White Money’s co-contestants.

I rest my case.

Those who have ears let them hear.

BBNaija: Whitemoney Vs. Other Housemates [The BIG Lesson For The Rest Of Us]. THE END.
